ONE432
ONE432 collaborated with Splitscreen to produce garments that balanced sustainability, craftsmanship, and flexibility. Splitscreen had to limit the use of fresh or virgin materials to minimize environmental impact. The solution was to find multiple sources of leftover fabrics or deadstock from large exporting factories. In the few cases we could not find the right fabric, we used recycled yarns and constructed fabrics on traditional hand-looms, minimizing impact as well as supporting heritage craftsmanship.
Our second challenge was to find skilled craftsmen for ONE432’s signature hand embroideries. Most hand-embroiderers were experienced in working in wedding wear, there was a process of re-training them using different techniques as well as working on a new set of fabrics altogether. As a small brand, ONE432’s volumes’ were very small, at times only one piece per SKU. This meant re-arranging an entire cut to pack process that could handle processing a single piece. This ability to complete one piece at a time created the opportunity for ONE432 to launch a customisation option for their clients.
